Philanthropy and Community reinvestment
Since the inception of the bank, BII has aggressively prosecuted a corporate
policy geared towards giving back to the communities in which we operate. At
BII, giving is serious business.
We have developed the Bancoii Philanthropy Foundation and a fund focused on
providing support across the globe for small-scale projects that support the
Foundation,
sustainable projects and the culture.
Bancoii Philanthropy Foundation
To emphasize BII´s Corporate Social Responsibility, the Bank set up Bancoii
Philanthropy Foundation, a fully functional Foundation responsible for identifying
areas, sectors and causes deserving of philanthropic aid. It manages a variety
of funds in support of socially responsible projects.
The Foundation is the channel through which BII Bank gives back to society.
Bancoii Philanthropy Foundation ensures that the philanthropic vision of the
bank is
carried out efficiently and professionally. We work with other charities to
develop the Foundation´s objectives.
Our Philanthropy Objectives
The Foundation is well positioned to execute sustainable projects and to
manage donations towards economic, social and cultural improvements.
A. Sponsoring of cultural events
Museums play a key social role in education and cultural development. The Bank
sponsors artists, art creation, museums and galleries to promote education.
The Foundation collected used books and donated them to UNICEF. The proceeds
from the auction benefited a number of poor villages.
We also sponsor reading and writing skills to help solve the problem of low
or not literacy. A lot of people in the world have difficulty with reading
and writing. As society becomes increasingly digital, individuals with poor
literacy skills can easily find themselves becoming isolated.
B. Bank services for the underprivileged.
BII has created Development Accounts, designed to help low-income working individuals
to save money to achieve specific goals such as first-time home ownership,
business start up or post secondary education. Once accepted into the program,
a qualified participant opens a BII Development Account. These accounts provided
by BII are interest-bearing savings accounts with no minimum balance requirement
or monthly fee.
The program is available through the Bank, which accepts candidates based on
predetermined criteria, including income level, residential location and planned
asset purpose. Once enrolled, the participant must open a Developed Account
and complete a comprehensive economic literacy training program to assist with
the development of money management and goal setting skills.
C. Helping Charities
The Foundation has developed the Sustainable Business training course. This
course teaches nonprofit organisations to profile themselves effectively in
the commercial market to support its objectives.
We also regularly asks our customers to support the charities with whom BII
or the Foundation collaborates. D. Sport sponsorship
Sport has great social relevance: it moulds people, encourages bonding and
keeps people fit. We are active in our support of sports.
E. Housing
The Foundation help to support Habitat for Humanity (building affordable and
safe houses for families in need).
